We used to go to my mother’s for Christmas dinner and always joked that the family tradition was having as many different vegetables as possible with lunch. Most years, there were at least seven or eight varieties!

My worst disaster was getting up on Christmas morning with four excited children only to discover I hadn’t bought the batteries for numerous toys. Safe to say neighbours and grandparents came in useful.
