Sue Baic studied for an MSc in Nutrition at the University of London. She later qualified as a Dietitian and is registered with the Health Professions Council and the Nutrition Society. Sue worked in the National Health Service for fifteen years including eight years as a community dietitian. She has also worked in private practice and is trained in counselling and behaviour change skills.
She has also worked part time as a Lecturer in Nutrition and Public Health at the University of Bristol since 2001 where she is Programme Director for the Master of Science in Nutrition Physical Activity and Public Health.
Since 1995 she has run her own freelance nutrition consultancy. Sue has presented on a variety of key nutritional topics to the public (including the Cheltenham Festival of Science, Eden Project Food Awareness Week, Café Scientifique) at national conferences (British Dietetic Association National Conference, Primary Care, Primary Care Live, Nutrition & Health, Medical Women’s Federation) providing regular training to NHS staff including the BJPCN Practice Nurse Training Programme and in Primary Care settings.
Sue writes for both health professionals and the consumer press and develops leaflets and other consumer resources translating nutrition science into practical advice. Her recently-published Nutrition For Dummies, The GL Diet For Dummies and Living Gluten Free For Dummies are available in bookshops or on-line.
Sue is a media spokesperson for the Science Media Centre, the Univeristy of Bristol and the British Dietetic Association ( www.bda.uk.com ) and is an active member of their Public Relations committee. She has considerable experience with interviews and consultancy including TV (BBC1: Don’t Die Young, Breakfast News); BBC 2: The Truth About Food, What’s Really in our Food?; Channel 4: Diet Doctors; ITV: The Good Health Guide and CBBC: Top Ten of Everything) and radio (BBC Radio 2: Chris Evans; BBC Radio 4: The Today programme; BBC Radio 5 Live; BBC Radio Bristol and the BBC World Service).
She has also written for women's magazines, popular press, consumer and trade magazines including Yours magazine (a regular nutrition column), Health and Fitness (regular reviewer) Zest, Men’s Health, The Observer, The Daily Mail and The Independent.
Sue is a keen runner and member of The Town and Country Harriers and The Hash House Harriers.
