Frozen squash can be a "comforting choice" for people who want to ward off winter chills, it has been advised.
And for those who find the fresh hard-skinned vegetable a bit too much of an obstacle to overcome for a quick weekday night dinner, the frozen version can be the ideal answer, Joe Gray, writing for the Chicago Tribune, states.
"The discovery of frozen packages of the vividly orange squash already peeled and cubed was a revelation. The product cooks up quickly, maintains good texture and has lots of flavour," he says.
Mr Gray goes on to add that the frozen vegetable is a perfect addition to a stew, which can be paired with black beans and seasoned with sage and cumin.
He advises that both of these flavourings complement frozen squash.
