Counting calories over Christmas?

Posted by Matt on Saturday, Dec 22 2007 | Permalink | Comments: 0

We all know how easy it is to over indulge during the festive period, particularly if you’ve been depriving yourself and counting calories. It’s tempting to just ditch the diet and take a break but don’t undo all your hard work, why not follow some of our simple tips and have a healthier and happier time over Christmas:

• Make sure you pile your plate with different coloured fruits and veg. These have virtually zero fat and are full of vitamins to boost your immune system. • Use less fat for your roast potatoes and parsnips. • At the finger buffet opt for a salsa based dip as opposed to a rich cream based one like cheese and chive. • Good news! Turkey is a great option for slimmers! It’s packed with protein and zinc, a mineral that keeps the immune system in tip-top shape…and most importantly it fills you up. • Eating more positive foods will make you feel better over the winter period. If you are watching your waistline over the party season, our Roast Turkey Meal is perfect for Christmas Day - with gravy, roast and boiled potatoes, sprouts, carrots, chipolata and stuffing. Alternatively if you prefer pork, our juicy Festive Pork Loin smothered in chunky apple gravy with roast and boiled potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli and peas is just divine. All of our reducing diet main meals contain less than 320 calories and our desserts less than 75 calories, so why not treat yourself to a Chocolate Mousse for afters. Do you have any top health tips for over Christmas? Post your comments. We’d love to hear from you…
