Retirement is the time to indulge yourself, make the most of the hobbies you neglected throughout your working life, meet friends, take up tennis and the like. But for some of you it’s no-no as increasing numbers of over-65s or ‘silver foxes’ are leaving retirement by the wayside to pursue new careers.

Everyday an estimated 26 million people eat more than the recommended six gram daily intake of salt. Men are eating the most with a daily average of 10g, while woman consume an average of 8.1g a day. A high intake of salt is related to high blood pressure, which in turn is linked to heart disease and stroke.

Coeliac disease was once thought to be a childhood condition but it has now become recognised that it affects many adults as well. It is known to run in families and is becoming increasingly common as diagnosis improves. An inflammatory condition of the small intestine, it is caused by sensitivity to the protein gluten, which is found in wheat, rye and barley. The condition is very common but symptoms can be kept under control with a strict gluten-free diet.
