Are you getting enough fibre?

We’re all guilty of overindulging as the sunshine fades and the autumn chill sets in but this can be bad news for your digestive system. Current fibre intakes in the UK are well below recommended levels but Wiltshire Farm Foods is here to help.

Fibre is an essential part of a healthy diet to promote gastrointestinal health, prevent the onset of diabetes by regulating your insulin response and as high-fibre foods are more filling they can also help you lose weight! Fibre is also attributed as reducing the risk of developing high cholesterol, blood pressure, cancers or heart disease – currently the biggest killer in the UK. All our meals at Wiltshire Farm Foods contain dietary fibre to boost intake but in our Special Diet Guide we have details of all dishes that are an especially good source of fibre - alternatively just look for the ‘HF’ symbol next to your meals. Why not try our hearty Roast Pork in Apple Gravy or if you’re aching for a filling snack try our Cheesy Potato Wedges with Baked Beans, perfect when you need a little extra help! Or, if you fancy something a little more exotic sample our Pork with Paprika and Madeira - tender, delicious and good for you. Just remember if you increase the fibre content of your diet ensure also increase your fluid intake so your body is able to cope - you should be drinking at least two litres per day. Do you have any delicious tips or recipes to maintain a diet high in fibre?
