We always do our utmost to produce the perfect meals for our customers to choose from. Our Head Chef, Phil Rimmer is responsible for the fantastic recipes for Wiltshire Farm Foods – here we ask him about his passion for food.
Hi Phil, welcome to your first journal entry. So tell me a bit about yourself… I’m 36 years old, I’m from Lancashire and live with my wife and two children… and I love food! Why did you become a chef? I’ve always been interested in food and when I left school I decided to put it into practice and go to college. I did all kinds of things in college involving catering, but cooking was the one I had an affinity with, and then I took it from there. I’m a bit of a foody really. I really like eating it …I love everything about it! I’ve been a chef for nearly twenty years. How long have you been working for Wiltshire Farm Foods? I’ve been working for Wiltshire Farm Foods for just under two years. I joined them because I wanted a challenge. I’ve been working in hotels and restaurants my entire career and wanted to experience a different dimension of the food industry. Who has been your greatest inspiration in cooking? When you are younger you get a lot of inspiration from people around you, the people you work with day to day. One person that really got me thinking about food in a different way, particularly in tasting it, was a Head Chef I used to work with called Collin White, a well respected name amongst chefs. He was a great influence on me. So what’s your favourite food? That’s a difficult one- I’ve got too many to list! I’m really into fish and shell fish, the simpler the better. I’ve got favourite foods for different seasons. Do you have a top cooking tip? When I was Head Chef at restaurants I used to tell the chefs to take your time, think about it and enjoy it!
