National Business Awards

Wiltshire Farm Foods parent company apetito is proud to have received two awards at the highly prestigious ‘National Business Awards'. We won both the ‘Corporate Social Responsibility Award' and the ‘Business Innovation of The Year Award'.

The Corporate Social Responsibility Award recognises our commitment to reducing its impact on the environment. Just some of our key achievements to date include increasing recycling by 20% in 2007 to 438 tonnes a year, dramatically cutting exhaust pollution from their transport fleet by investing heavily in a cleaner, greener fleet and achieving the international standard ISO14001 for their environmental management systems.

The Corporate Social Responsibility Award also reflects our social commitment, having donated over £34,000 to charities and community schemes in the last two years and constantly working to provide meals that are as balanced and nutritious as possible, so our customers can enjoy great food, every day.

The ‘Business Innovation of The Year Award' recognises the development of the New Generation ‘apetito Chefmobil', the mobile meals delivery van that used throughout our community meals services around the U.K. The Chefmobil ensures customers receive piping hot meals every time via the use of its three onboard ovens and integrated computer technology.

Queen’s Award

Wiltshire Farm Foods parent company apetito has won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category in recognition of the continuous innovation in the delivery of food to the elderly. Our products, systems and services combined with winning staff has been crucial to the success of apetito and were crucial in the decision to award apetito the Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

apetito provides food in over 150 local authorities and operates Meals on Wheels delivery contracts for over 24 of them, providing a private home delivery service in the shape of Wiltshire Farm Foods. apetito passionately believes we have played a major role in enhancing services to this vulnerable, growing and very important sector of the UK population and look forward to many more years of continuous innovation.

In winning the award, apetito was honoured to host the His Royal Highness, the Duke of Kent, in a tour of our factory. Company staff gathered outside to meet and greet him and in attendance were the High Sheriff of Wiltshire, the Chairman of Wiltshire County Council and the Mayor of Trowbridge. His Royal Highness was shown to the Product Development Centre where he was met by the Board of Directors and taken through the company’s operation.

“I think what is remarkable is the particular product that you are making here which is the supply of meals, mostly for the elderly and infirm which is a sector of industry and business which I feel is not very well understood in the country. It is particularly important obviously and does play an important part in people’s lives so all congratulations to all members of the firm who won the award.”

Best in the West

We are immediately recognisable as one of the most thriving and successful businesses in the West of England, and this is reflected in our well-stocked awards cabinet.

In 2004 we were awarded Business of the Year in the Bath Area Business Awards, followed in 2005 by the Business Innovator Award.

2006 saw us awarded West of England Business of the Year, having made it as a finalist two years running.
